Starbucks will soon offer coffee cake for $10, a nod to the iconic beverage and its iconic packaging.
The company announced the new menu item, dubbed the Coffee Cake with Peanut Butter Frosting, at the company’s annual shareholder meeting on Tuesday.
The product will be available in six flavors including Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Brownie, Chocolate Frosted, Chocolate Truffle and Chocolate Peanut.
It will be served on the coffee table in the coffee shop, with a side of frosting.
Starbucks’ CEO Howard Schultz said the coffee cake is a way to pay tribute to the company and its past, saying it is a good way to commemorate the coffee and ice cream business, which is undergoing a transformation.
“We’re celebrating the history of coffee and we’re celebrating our place in history, and we’ve done it with a coffee cake,” Schultz said.
“And we’ve got to pay homage to that history with this product.”
Starbucks is also making an effort to be more inclusive in its offerings.
Earlier this month, the company announced that it was offering free beverages for men and women of color.
The new coffee cake with peanut butter frosting will be one of the first offerings.
The coffee cake will feature a vanilla bean cupcake base, with caramel-colored chocolate frosting and a vanilla-covered peanut butter swirl.
The cupcake will come in three flavors, including the Chocolate Chip Chocolate Brownies, Chocolate Cookies and Chocolate Frosteds.
The frosting can be applied to both sides of the cupcake and can be topped with sprinkles, which the company has also included in other flavors.
The new coffee is being offered for just $10 a slice, which includes two tablespoons of vanilla bean powder and one tablespoon of powdered sugar.
